Top Of The Food Chain Vol 1 | Del Frisco's | Just Add Cheese!

If you read this blog, you probably know by now that we don?t hit up national chains very often. Boston has so many unique restaurants that seem to open by the dozen, so in our never ending quest for interesting food, it happens. Also, most chains turn me off?I will never?understand how the Cheesecake Factory is constantly packed.

You might also notice that we don?t hit up steakhouses very often. I love me a good steakhouse but they?re usually all the same. You know, expensive steaks and sides a la carte, huge wine list, lots of older men in suits, etc.

So why am I writing a post about Del Frisco?s, a place that would normally be off Just Add Cheese radar? Because it?s packing some serious heat underneath the surface. When we tried Del Fresco?s for the first time a couple weeks ago we obviously tried the steak and lobster. Both were delicious but I?m not here to write about a medium rare ribeye or a buttery lobster tail, I?m here to show you the stuff you don?t already know about?their appetizers, side dishes, drinks, and desserts that can hold their own sans steak dinner. This is the stuff that sets Del Frisco?s apart from other similar steakhouses, and what puts it on my list of places to meet up in the Seaport for a spur of the moment food and drink rendezvous.

del friscos crab cake

The Crab Cake with cajun lobster sauce is pretty much just lump crabmeat and that?s definitely not a bad thing. The sauce is creamy with a kick of citrus and spice, which makes it difficult not to lick the place when you?re done.

calamari and champagne

Shanghai-Style Fried Calamari had a sweet glaze over it but still remained crispy. And we also loved their champagne cocktail with bitters and raspberries.

del friscos macncheese

We literally wanted to swim in the Lobster Mac ?n? Cheese. You won?t want to share this, although you should because you will eat the whole thing if it?s on the table in front of you?no matter how full you already are.

del friscos milkshake

An unexpected delight was the chocolate milkshake dessert. It was perfect for sharing and doesn?t leave you feeling as guilty as this monster?

del friscos bread pudding

Caring about calories was a lost cause after the lobster mac ?n? cheese, so we just went all out and got the bread pudding. And what a bread pudding it was! Up there in the best I?ve ever had and I?m a little obsessed with bread budding. It was solid and spongey on the inside and crispy on the top.

Del Frisco?s is not cheap but when you?re going out for a big night or planning a company dinner (on them)?it?s a versatile spot where everyone can find something they like (and you can mow lobster mac ?n? cheese). Vegetarians actually might not like it as much, unless you?re sitting at the bar and the rich businessman next to you takes care of your drinks?
