Going Pink For Breast Cancer Awareness | WBNS-10TV

Central Ohio businesses spoke about going pink to benefit breast cancer research on Thursday.

Grocery stores like Kroger carry specially marked lunch meat, yogurt, socks and more to fund research for breast cancer, 10TV's Karina Nova reported.

"Our local affiliate gets 10 cents per lid." said Katie Carter, Executive Director of Komen Columbus. "Last year our affiliate raised $14,000 just in the Yoplait program."

In addition to grocery shopping, you can donate Komen Columbus while getting dessert, Nova reported.

Orangeleaf in Westerville will donate 20 percent of sales to Komen Columbus.

"It's a good cause." said Maureen Ross of Orangeleaf. "I'm a woman and I feel like that's a way we can give back to the community."

Wine lovers can also give back if they visit a wine tasting at Tucci's restaurant in Dublin this weekend, Nova reported.

"It's a lot of fun along with such a good cause." said Julie Colson, Assistant General Manager at Tucci's. "Everyone in the community knows someone they're related to or close to that has had breast cancer."

The Step Up for Stefanie 5k and 2m run/walk is on Oct. 23, thousands are expected to participate, and proceeds benefit the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research, Nova reported.
